ARTIST: The Shins (Google this artist)
ALBUM: Oh, Inverted World
LABEL: Sub Pop
RELEASED: 2001

Such a delightful, delicate alt-pop record with loads of great harmonies, acoustic guitars and languid, dreamy melodies. I get lost in this quartet's CD every time I put it on. And with song titles like "Caring Is Creepy" and "Weird Divide," and my favorite single of the year, "New Slang (When You Notice the Stripes)," you know you're in for a treat. What a delicious and twisted lyrical song; oh sing with me children…"God speed all the bakers at dawn/may they all cut their thumbs/and bleed into buns/till they melt away." This is Turin Brakes with clever lyric breaks and simple instrumental moments. You'll be spinning this disc again and again and your mind won't mind at all.
