Miss Fortune's debut self-titled CD is
a well-done shot into the power-pop arena. While some of
the songs have that artist-of-the-moment, generic quality,
the band's passion, drive and clever songwriting shine through
on gems like the Smithereens-esque ""If You Die"" and ""Tell
You Things."" Miss Fortune, like The Pursuit of Happiness
and Jellyfish, seem tuned into that inate ability to lift
a bass line off the ground, mix it with driving drums and
swirling guitars and make it all crank.
