While there really isn't much musical progress from Cousteau's self-titled debut to Sirena, the group seems to have established themselves as a "hot ticket". For this they can thank a consistent sound, solid songs and a fantastic live show.
The music on Sirena continues to be dark and haunting with soaring and memorable melodies. Calling Cousteau "lounge" music does them a disservice. While the band carries forward many of those traits, their songs are finely-tuned pop gems with full and pleasing arrangements. After a few listens this album feels like one you've known for years.
