Seemingly and undeniably influenced by a strange cross-bred combination of The Velvet Underground, Gram Parsons and David Lynch, GIANTfingers is the latest outgrowth from the mind of New York City's "metaphysical cowboy," Dusty Wright. On their self-titled debut, GIANTfingers stroll through a sometimes mellow, sometimes raucous set of haunting and atmospheric soundscapes that orgininated as incidental music for an Andy Warhol documentary. In addition to the songwriting, the group gets much of its unique sound from the cello of Matt Goeke. There is very much a beatnik feel to this music, thanks in large part to the percussion and the overall feel of a group of friends sitting around a smoky club playing their songs.
